“Simply the best in the world”
Having dined in many restaurants around the world, I can say with confidence that I have experienced a wide range of culinary standards as someone who truly loves high-quality food. But this restaurant is my absolute favourite so far. It is simply the best in the world.
The exceptional quality of the ingredients they use and the creativity behind every dish are nothing short of sensational. Every bite reflects passion, precision and incredible attention to detail.

“They have perfected it”
Genuinely incredible experience. I stayed in Rotorua with my family for one night, and I saw reviews praising Atticus Finch – they were MASSIVELY underselling it. Our server, Jay, was phenomenal. So attentive, knowledgeable, and kind! We’ll be back and thrilled to go again. I ordered the lamb rump, and we also had the fish curry and sirloin. Unforgettable. Everything was tender and flavorful and delicious! No notes, no improvements.
I heard that Atticus Finch has changed management and chefs recently- I don’t know what it was like before, but all I can say is this restaurant is a gem, and the people who work there have perfected it.

“Felt premium without being overpriced”
We had a fantastic experience at Atticus Finch. The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions and excellent presentation. What impressed us the most was the quality for the price — every dish felt premium without being overpriced.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Definitely one of the best value-for-money restaurants we’ve tried in New Zealand. Highly recommended if you are visiting Rotorua!

“Best meal in Rotorua by far”
Best meal we had in Rotorua all around by far! (We were there 2 nights 3 days). Our eyes were bigger than our stomach and we wanted to order everything. Great service, delicious and thoughtful food – taste and presentation.
Meat cooked to perfection. So tasty and tender. We had no room for desserts but still ordered them and so glad we did. Great place to enjoy a drink or a full meal!

“Wish I could give a 10 star rating!”
We had amazing service, especially from Finlay, honestly 10/10. I didn’t expect to get a table as it looked super busy but we were really hoping to get one since this place is my favourite restaurant in Rotorua. The girl who approached us said she could squeeze us in and I was so grateful for her.

The service here is truly beyond anything else. Finlay looked after us and you genuinely won’t get better service than this anywhere. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing and the whole experience was just perfect.

“Every bite more enjoyable than the last”
We managed to get a walk-in table at Atticus Finch, and WOW we were lucky. The food was absolutely incredible; every bite seemed more enjoyable than the last. The fried chicken, lamb rump and harissa roasted carrots were unreal, but for me the chicken rendang stole the show.
And Jay, our server was ON IT the whole night. Man took care of us with the utmost professionalism. 10/10.

“Plenty of vegetarian options”
One of the best meals of the trip. This is a genuinely chef driven spot with a creative menu that makes it hard to choose. There were more dishes we wanted to try than we could realistically order, which is always a good sign.
The concept leans toward small plates, which worked really well for us. My wife is vegetarian, and we still had plenty of options to share without feeling limited. The dishes felt thoughtful and well balanced, not just variations of the same idea.
Overall, a standout meal and easily one of the more memorable dining experiences in Rotorua.

“Can’t say enough about how tasty it was”
This place was so wonderful. We were seated instantly at 6:45pm with no reservation. Sid did an amazing job and noticed my wine was out, offering to bring me another (reading my mind). Brianna the waitress took care of us very well.
But the best part was the AMAZING food! We had edamame and stuffed portobello mushrooms as small plate appetizers. We had Chicken Thalia and Spiced Lamb Rump as large share plates. They were so GOOD! I cannot say enough about how tasty this dinner was. Highly recommend this place!

“Great food, fair value.”
Atticus Finch has been the surprise restaurant star of our NZ trip so far.
Located on Rotorua, somewhat gaudy, restaurant strip, I was not expecting too much but Atticus delivered a series of excellent sharing plates of pleasing unexpected combinations. Given we were quite a large table, the service was up there, too. Great food, fair value.
